Inomi associate counsellor, Simran Kaur, takes it upon herself to explore possibilities for students who want to study Business but didn’t take maths in senior school… and she has good news to share – and a bit of advice!
Math is a nightmare for many students (it was for me too!). But, we are told by our parents, teachers and counselors that this nightmare is compulsory in Class 11 and 12, if we want to pursue any good Business or Management courses. And, it is true in most cases, but not all!
Yes! You do not need to compulsorily study Math at Grade 12 to pursue a Management program from reputed universities. So, in order to provide a relief and a direction to all the non math students, we have collated information about different countries and the universities within, offering Management courses without Math.
We know you might be wondering What? Where? How? Then, read on to find the answers.
Study in India
Let’s start with our home country, India. So, most universities like University of Delhi, Ashoka University, IP University, NMIMS etc, require a student to have Math in class 12. But, there are certain other good options available for students, without Math, to pursue a BBA program in some of the good and upcoming universities in India. Some of these universities are:
- India Institute of Management, Indore [Integrated BBA + MBA program]
- S.P. Jain School of Global Management
- Flame University
- Christ University
- O.P Jindal Global School of Business
- IILM University
- Azim Premji University
- Symbiosis International University
Most of these universities are based on a liberal education model, giving the choice to the student to choose their major area of focus in the final year of graduation. Mainly, the admission into them is granted through an entrance exam, followed by an interview.
Study in the United Kingdom
Coming to the most sought after country for UG admissions in 2019, UK is another top destination to pursue a management course. Most of the universities in UK require Math at grade 12 but there is a way for non Math students to get an admission in the management program as well. In this case, the universities require the student to complete a foundation year, before granting them an offer of admission. Some of these universities are:
- University of Warwick
- University of Bath
- Cardiff University
- Middlesex University
- Lancaster University
- Loughborough University
Most of the universities have a common application, in which a student is required to write one personal essay and upload his/her Grade 12 predicted scores. Except University of Warwick which has its own application form.
Study in Canada
Giving the UK a tough competition, Canada is also among one of the best countries for students. Again, with every university focusing on the Math requirement at class 12, there are a few reputed universities who offer a foundation program for students not having a Math background whereas some provide direct admission based on Grade 12 scores. A few of these universities are:
- University of Waterloo
- York University
- Thompson Rivers University
- Simon Fraser University
I hope this information gives you an overview of the universities providing Management programs without Math.
You will notice, however that though you have options, these are very limited. So, I’ll advise you to take up Math in Grade 11 and 12 because that’ll increase the scope of your applications to different universities.
