TOP 5 THINGS TO DO IN HONG KONG

STUDENT EDITION

Inomi student Tejas Vohra is Studying Finance and Business with Hong Kong University. He studied in Shikshanter School in Gurugram.

Hong Kong is a remarkable city and choosing to study there was a great decision on my part!  It’s a living city and you can feel its spirit course through you as you explore its neon alleys, pristine beaches and stunning mountaintops. But then with beauty comes a price, which as students most of us can’t afford! Hence, I have compiled a list of things which are a must-do in the beautiful city of Hong Kong but are most importantly achievable on a student budget!

1. Explore Sai Kung

Sai Kung is one of the prettiest places to visit in Hong Kong, and it has so much to do!

One can visit the rock pools, go kayaking or walk around the lovely pier! For first timers, sticking to mainstream activities is a great idea but as a you get more experienced you can visit the Sai Kung Country Park which offers amazing hikes and is home to some of the best beached in Hong Kong.

2. Visit Sham Shui Po

For anyone who has an interest in electronics, Sham Shui Po is the place to be! The Golden Computer Arcade is full of small shops selling everything from plugs, to flat-screen televisions. Sham Shui Po is one of the oldest areas of Hong Kong and still houses small tenement like homes! The Apliu Street Market is a great place to see locals go about their daily business! It’s also one of the cheapest places in Hong Kong for street food!

3. Eat an Egg Waffle at Mammy Pancake

Mammy Pancake is a Michelin starred street food eatery and serves some of the best waffles out there! It has flavours ranging from Chocolate Oreo to Matcha Green Tea!

4. Explore the Ladies Market in Mong Kok

Unlike the name suggests, the Ladies Market is not just a market for women. It offers all varieties of trinkets! From old and rare board-games to sunglasses and hats! It really is a must visit if one is looking for inexpensive gifts.

5. Download Eatigo and Binge your way to Glory!

Most students would agree when I say that Eatigo is the best app to ever be made! It offers heavy discounts of up to 50% at great restaurants! It allows us to visit a lot of restaurants and try new food without breaking the bank!

Although these activities are amazing, Hong Kong offers a lot more extending from astounding night clubs to cheap travel opportunities to the entirety of South-East Asia!

I really do consider Hong Kong to be an amazing study destination as it offers quality education, incredible scholarships and a lot to do when you’re free, all at a fee much lower than the Americas and Europe!
